Fixed was engaged to complete a multi-zone external overhaul in a remote region with major local supply and labor shortages, all while keeping the facility 100% operational and compliant. Delivered across four meticulously planned stages over four weeks, our team worked around the clock (7 days a week, including after-hours) to completely transform the outdoor play area. By freighting specialised, compliant products directly from Brisbane and deploying two rotating trade teams, we met a compressed deadline with zero downtime or compliance disruptions for the client.

The Scope of Works
The complete external overhaul focused on maximising safety, aesthetic appeal, and structural durability. The works included:
- 480 sq/m of Premium Synthetic Turf: Installed to provide a durable, low-maintenance, and vibrant play surface.
- High-Volume Fencing: Supply and installation of 180 linear meters of secure, compliant Colorbond fencing.
- Custom Sandpits & Paving: Structural sandstone sandpits paired with professional paving to create distinct, tactile play zones.
- Shade & Impact Mitigation: Strategic installation of new commercial-grade shade sails combined with specialized impact-attenuation zones underneath to ensure optimal fall-safety compliance.
The Constraints & Our Solutions
To ensure the facility could safely remain open to children and staff every day, we divided the yard into four distinct construction stages. This allowed the childcare centre to maintain its required operational capacity and safety compliance throughout the duration of the build.
The remote location lacked local suppliers capable of providing the specialized, certified safety products required for the strict scope. Leveraging our robust logistics network, we successfully coordinated the transport and freight of all major materials and products ex Brisbane directly to the site.
With tight project dates and a local trade shortage resistant to weekend and after-hours work, we mobilized two separate, highly specialised trade teams from Brisbane. Operating on a relentless 7-day-a-week schedule, our teams rotated seamlessly to accelerate the timeline and hit every milestone without compromise.
The Result
The project was completed in just 4 weeks. Thanks to a rigorous logistics strategy and an unwavering commitment to out-of-hours labor, the facility enjoyed a seamless transition to a world-class outdoor environment. The management team was able to focus entirely on their daily operations, secure in the knowledge that their compliance was protected and the job was being executed safely, swiftly, and without fuss.
